Guilloche patterns have names

Post by svaglic » June 12th 2022, 6:51pm

On WUS a guy asked a question about the name of the guilloche pattern on his watch. It was a pretty decent thread with
Cubsfan812 posting this link.

And, I found this link in a Google search.

Pretty interesting, at least to me. I didn’t realize there were names to the various patterns. Now I’m going to look at my watches and try to figure out the pattern names, that should come in handy during boredom days.

Here is an example from one of the articles. Kind of a quick cheat sheet. I’m going to try to find some more of these to make it easier to determine what I have.

Here is the link to the thread over there, there are a lot of links that discuss names of patterns. A lot of reading for me, but it’s interesting so it will probably go quick.

Great info, thank you. I only have a couple of watches with guilloche dials but will be fun to see what they are

How did I miss that? That’s the stuff I love reading about and learning.

I love the engines - an incredible feat of early engineering.
