They have been around a while, so they must be doing something right. They are just different enough to catch the eye.
In memory of TB/Phfluff, since he isn’t here to continue to give his praise, I will share it for him.

They do source together a pretty nice watch - only company where your messenger bag costs twice the price of your watch.

Like Montblanc, Hermes is primarily known for other products, but again, like Montblanc, they've shown they're serious about watches. Both marques make some very nice ones. It may be "brand extension" but their watches are made to the same high standard as their signature products.

I had Hermes once. I think I caught it off a toilet seat.
Once caught, you have it forever. The gift that keeps on giving.

The toilet seat?? Really? 🚻

A version of this has caught my interest:

Hermès watches are the best value in their catalog considering they sell $30,000 purses. EDITED to add: I'm not sure the following applies to this model as is's not marked Swiss Made - unless they marked it on the back for design reasons.

The movements are terrific - made by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier - founded in 2003. They offer customized, proprietary variants of their standard lineup of movements made to the specifications of their client brands with desired complications and modules, Si springs, free-sprung balances etc. for privately labeled watches that they produce start to finish.

While VMF does its own decoration / engraving, polishing, chamfering, and whatnot, on their movements, they partner with outside artisanal and manufacturing concerns for components like dials, cases, crystals, and bracelets for their private label watch projects. VMF also provides warranty and lifetime service for private label watches and movements.

VMF is partially owned by Hermès, reportedly a 25% stake, Les Manufactures Horologères (LMH), part of the Richemont Group, and a Swiss venture capital firm, for whom the details are sketchy. So, given that Hermè owns a piece of VMF, their claim to the use of in-house movements has a strong degree of legitimacy given the Hermès subsidiary manufactures all of the components, assembles, and decorates the movements themselves, and likely now handles the complete production of the uber-luxury brand's line of watches, including casing up the movements and otherwise fulfilling the requirements for the Swiss Made mark.
