Still want that Breguet Classique Extra Thin in white gold - https://www.breguet.com/en/timepieces/classique/5157
I can afford it, but can I justify it?
Spectacular! And it's only half of the price of a used steel Daytona.

Dang. Tough question. Depends on whether I manage to sell some of my watches, trade them, or keep them.

What I'd definitely consider - of modern stuff - is a Hamilton Khaki Field hand-cranker or some Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80. Somehow, most stuff that I could save for seems wanting compared to the Longines Spirit. Doubt there's anything I'd want as badly as I wanted the Spirit.

Who knows, maybe some vintage deal will come along. If it does, and happens to be decent and within my reach, who knows.
I always hope for the best. Experience, unfortunately, has taught me to expect the worst.

I'd have to second that desire for the Longines Spirit. A very nice watch but still a purchase that wouldn't stress the budget.

Or maybe some microbrand like the AnOrdain with the red enamel dial.

I might even aspire to a Sinn or some other Germanic device that oozes quality while not costing a fortune.
