2022 watch plans?

Post by smellody » December 19th 2021, 10:12am

As we wrap up 2021 I'm starting to reflect on my 2022 watch acquisitions.

My first for 2022 will be the Omega Constellation that I put a deposit on.

Image

My second, and I discovered it before Cod, is the 9ct (ct not k like the Brits say) gold color (in the US, only 10k or higher concentrations of gold alloy may be called gold) 300 bronze gold seamaster by Oh'mi-gah.

(I love gold!)

Who knows what I might come across after those two, but those are my plans. I also really fancy Tudor's .925 Silver BB.

How about you all, what are your 2022 horologic acquisition plans?

No plans for anything "big" as I have really grown fond of the multitude of pieces I already own.

Maybe something gray here or there. Nothing's made me take notice in a long time.

Beautiful Connie, Smells. I was thinking yours might be around the same vintage as the one I picked up about three years back, but after looking at the respective dials this is a year or two older.

Your Constellation is nice too! Mine is still a current model, but out of stock: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watc ... 0382102002

So may have been discontinued to allow additional production of dive watches bound for down under....

No plans.

With rare exception, nearly all acquisitions are reasonably impulsive and lend to a series of pleasant moments scattered intermittently across the calendar past.
Yes. I understand. Most my acquisitions are from my jeweler when he gives me a text. . .

Wow. A current out of stock model? In the current watch world, that's akin to finding the holy grail. Nice job.

As for mine, best I can figure it's from about 1995, as it had yet to feature "co-axial" on its dial. I might be wrong about when that began, but I reckon it's around the mid-90s. That means this one packs a modified Calibre 1111 based on the ETA 2892, which is one of my favorites and a movement I have in at least three watches. Except for the rub-off at the bottom of the bezel, I think mine is in great shape for its age.

I just hope you enjoy yours half as much as I do mine. The Constellation is easily one of the most underrated watches out there, and it's one of a kind: A rough and tumble chrono with the styling of a dress watch. It's a little of everything. You have exceptional taste. :smirk:

No definitive plans. Rather looking at purchasing property or a motorcoach.
A motherfucking motorcoach?? The fuck, what's next, Velcro on your shoes??

OK, that's fairly fucking impressive. However, this is pretty small beer compared to tear-assing around the county in your fucking Genesis and booking stays at shitty hotels.

Cool choices IWB. Nice to see people still interested in interesting watches. I've also been looking at Bulgari, GP and Cartier.

First priority for me, however, is to buy a DIVORCE!!!

Damn I was tanked yesterday! Got a little bit carried away! I might get a watch or two next year but got some other priorities as well.

John that was hilarious. You must have been alarmed, with visions of Koi in Sansabelt “slacks”, dark glasses. Can of Ensure in hand. Alain, my advice is to check out MCI as well, they (IMO) drive better. I know the Prevost is especially popular with individuals because they seem to specialize in customizing them that way (so that might make a difference) but they have a distinctly tall and top heavy feel and MCI is so ubiquitous, you’ll never be stranded.
Whatever you do avoid any coach with the dreaded 12 speed ZF tranny. Every intersection is an exercise in terror, and they can be expensive to maintain.

Still want that Breguet Classique Extra Thin in white gold - https://www.breguet.com/en/timepieces/classique/5157
I can afford it, but can I justify it?
I've been told that you never see a hearse being followed by an armored car, you only live once, you can't take it with you, why not, and go for it, if that's what you really want, etc. ... about cars (more on that soon) and watches.

That is a beautiful heirloom-quality watch.

I agree!! I'm likely on borrowed time . . . So I get what I can when I can.
