Quartz watch price limit ???

Post by codguy » January 22nd 2021, 10:22am

I'm not a quartz watch guy despite what others might think, no seriously.

That ^ said, I was wondering how much is too much to spend on a battery powered timepiece? Comments?
Just asking.

If precision timing matters to you in whatever you are doing, then you sure as fuck aren't buying an automatic, it's that simple. If you're a Quartzsnob, yet care about an automatics accuracy to the second, there's something wrong in your cranium.

That being said, my ProMaster is deadnuts since I've purchased it.

Hard to say. The super accurate thermo compensated are very interesting. I happen to like quartz watches (gasp) but not to the exclusion of mechanicals and automatics.

With me its more the lack of money than lack of desire.

Whatever I can afford if the quality of the watch is good enough.
Yep. Currently have two GS quartz. Both over the $1500 line, one approaching double that. Amazing technology and actually worthy of a display caseback of all things.

My limit for quartz has always been about $400-500. Maybe that's my limit for any watch these days. But I spent more money on these two quartz watches, a 3-hander and a chrono. The Omega was $1000. The Tag Heuer was $800. ($Canadian, so less in $USA). Both about a 1/3 of original retail; no way I would have paid new prices. These suit specific purposes for me, when I want accurate and reliable grab and go or for international travel.

Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and you'll have his shoes.

^^^ The musician in my must express - a Martin - and a Taylor! Nice.
Thanks T... I keep checking Carters and Gruhn, and Rudy's to find an old affordable acoustic Gibson. Which happens to be my last name as well.

Do you (I guess I should say "did you") play around the Island? A working musician, as it were?
