Though Alain's passing is recent, this thread made me feel the same way I do when old Horse Feathers posts are revived. Neither are forgotten, and it's still a bittersweet kick in the feelers to see.

Quite so. Alas, in Thie Thing of Ours, and on the internet in general, who somebody dies, often enough, most of his online pals never know. One day, Joe123 doesn't post, and is never seen again. I had the good luck to hear from HF's widow regarding a watch that he won the day before his passing in a charity auction. She called me because she wasn't sure why the watch (IIRC, an Orient Star Revolver) arrived. When Alain passed, thankfully, his daughter called one of us to inform us.
