Thought you should know we have just been informed by our server provider Peer1 that our sites are the subject of concerted and malicious attacks from numerous countries which has brought the site down. This is despite considerable preventative work following a similar attack in October.

But they get mullered every time they do this.

It's a ploy and I don't buy it, and I don't buy Christopher Ward except their straps, and they don't even make those.

I'll just get them from eBay instead, where the shipping might take a bit longer, but the quality is the same and FUCK ME the site always works just fine.

Just got the apology email.

An Apology

Unfortunately, for the second time in three months, our site was subjected to a malicious and prolonged DDOS attack, despite us having increased the security level significantly, resulting in our systems being down and us not being able to take orders for several hours.

Our own engineers and IT partners managed to resolve the issue by 1am GMT since when the site has been working normally. We are also working with them to install the highest level of protection currently available which we hope will prevent any future attacks.

We apologise if you had trouble ordering yesterday but want you to know that the team here at CW is working around the clock to take and despatch your orders and is determined not to allow the bad guys to win the day!

Even on the CW site there are people saying they cheaped out, that this internet-focused business doesn't spend enough on internet service delivery, they're blaming some other rubbish on the fact that the site couldn't cope. It's crass. No-one's interested in taking down a microbrand in an arcane market segment during a time of year when EVERYONE is running sales. What for? Ransom? Presumably CW's line will be "our malicious competitors are trying to disrupt our innovatively disruptive approach to the luxury watch industry by sabotaging sabotage our business!" whilst pushing some of that unspent opex out as bonuses so someone else up the chain can buy more Mercs. Seen it a fucking billion times, and not just in the UK.
