Ancon watches

Postby koimaster » December 29th 2017, 3:50pm

Our ANCON Sea Shadow lines are inspired by the ANCON AGC-4 Amphibious Force Command Ship. To pay tribute to this magnificent warship we created the Sea Shadow with different case materials including the aging BRONZE casing which is known to age with the owner to create a nice patina colour which is unique with characteristics. Like powering the AGC-4, we power our ANCON Sea Shadow using the Miyota automatic movement for its accuracy and reliability.

Each of our ANCON lines are created with the tribute to a particular military history as well as combining the design of the new vision of the modern watch making and time. Conceptually, the watch has a specially designed protection crown in combination with the elegant colors of hand made Italian styled strap. Each watch is also equip with sapphire crystal glass and the dial markers are coated with Super Luminova for clarity of reading even in complete darkness. The case diameter is 45mm. There are few different case materials on offer including the much loved Al Bronze / Bronze as well as PVD-coated Stainless Steel and the more affordable Stainless Steel.

Yep. Noticed that, too.

I like their descriptions of what their watches were inspired by - most homage microbrands are much less creative with saying "we didn't copy Rolex." I don't quite see anything related to a command ship in a Rolex DSSD clone...

I assume bronzo is to bronze like skelly is to skeleton.

Trying to keep up with the official WIS terminology over here.

Steinhart, NTH, etc. 10 years ago, I would never have imagined that $500 quasi-homages from microbrands would be a thing,

Sharp as a tack you are.

If I had the means I'd award you an engraved Rollie Sub or an AP ROO,but right now I can't even afford a Hammie auto chrono.

Bronzo is Italian for bronze and the bronze Panerai Submersible was tagged as the Submersible bronzo a few years ago. That's really where it came from if you really want some WIS terminology clarification.

I always thought Skelly referred to some TV watch huckster.

Does Byzantinely ghey stand above or below Wagnerianly ghey on the gheyness scale?

Thanks for the education, one reason you are a WIS and me not.

Read on other forums where members referred to skeletonize wartches as "skelly". Same for the elementary school naming of rubber watch straps as "rubba".

Thanks again for the education rooster, now I know.

The only industry that came up with the concept of "exclusivity," even with watches nobody's ever heard the fuck of.

Spare me.

To be fair, all of the Evants were numbered limited editions. I think 100 of each were made and all (not sure about the latest but it was close) sold out.
Gnomon afforded buyers the opportunity to but the LE # of their choice,if still available.
I'm not sure about the Ancons.
