There are several Seiko's I've stalked quietly for years, casually checking the Bay and WUS sales forum and hoping to luck out. One of those was the orange Shogun, SBDC009 - probably the nicest orange diver Seiko has ever made.
John was kind enough to offer me the watch, and I'm honored to have it after being in the hands of two of the finest Lords before me (Conjurer, Robatsu).
I've always felt the Shogun is one of the best watches available under a grand, and I've owned the watch twice over the past several years. As I own several of Seiko's higher end diver offerings, my watchbox was crowded with black dials so my Shoguns found new homes.
But I always felt the orange Shogun is a keeper, the vibrant orange dial contrasting wonderfully with the grayish diashield titaniun, and with its extremely comfortable bracelet. And the Shogun itself is just an exquisitely designed dive watch, with its angular good looks pulling from the Samurai's of old.
And now, thanks to a damn fine Lord, I get to enjoy a piece I've admired from afar for years.
Thank you, friend!
