Ugh, sorry to hear. Terrible, RIP.

I think learning to not fear death is one of the most liberating qualities someone can have - but it's something I'm still working on.

Sad to see someone living a full life pass when he was so young. I say young because I'm 59 and live like I'm 35. You never know when your time will come, so have your personal life in order and make the most of every minute. RIP Greg.

The one thing I know about life is how precious it is. To know that Greg passed on at the age of 59 is very sad to me. To see what koi posted puts a face on the man, and I appreciate him posting that notice.

For some reason, the loss of our members here really, really hurts. I admire the knowledge, humor, and writing of so many here, including the members who aren't around any longer. It's so sobering to think of the ones who have left us.

I just hope that people close to Greg find peace and comfort at this time. I'm just a schmoe on a watch site - I'll be thinking of them tonight.

On Greg:
I agree with Schmoe. Sorry to hear of your early-checkout, Greg. Clearly you touched others in a meaningful way and have given us all a reminder to recalibrate and pay attention to what matters: to love friends & family and to serve the disenfranchised & less fortunate - that is the epidome of a life well-lived.

I steal words from the Irish when I say, "May you arrive in heaven three hours before the devil knows you're dead". Cheers, Friend.

On Death:
My first girlfriend died when I was 17; a family friend at 18, and other friends along the way - my favorite college professor was here for three semesters and one day, gone. Very early on I became acutely aware of how living is a temporary condition. About 15 years ago I was advised that I'd be "lucky" to live to be 40 - not only did I surpass that milestone, but Karma happened to later place me in the somewhat enjoyable position of denying that very doctor's loan request. For sound risk-based reasons... but still, being a dousch seldom helps.

Death? Fuck death, I'm gonna be a while, so you're just gonna have to wait. But just in case there is some sort of rush to abandon this vehicle... I -and you should, too- live, love, learn - and ENjoy! When your number comes up (how can it not?) hopefully you, too, will have people rallying to comment to your friends and family, - or here- how much they enjoyed knowing you. That's pretty much a win.

Looks like Greg won.

I just noticed the date he passed. Kind of scary based on his user name. You guys with numbers in your user names might want to change names.

Condolences to Greg's family and to those that knew him well. I did not know Greg, but from what I've read, he will be missed. You know, for a site filled with haters and a-holes there's an awful lot of (ahem) love that flow through these electronic pages. RIP Greg.

How much is it to keep it going? Does the forum have the funds to do it or do we need donations?

to put it up forever costs $79 which I will pay for but the only posts there are from a few members here. Input to keep it up by us or just let it go since apparently his family has not posted there.

Alain - We do a good job right here @WL remembering Greg, what with the 'Retired WIS' threads. Perhaps we could have a 'WIS Remembered Day,' maybe during the Memorial Day weekend, where we can encourage our members to post in Greg's, Ed's and Clarence's threads, sharing their memories, etc.

As to Greg's guest book, where only four of us have posted, and there are no family inputs, I think it would be a less-than-appropriate expenditure of WL's -- or your -- finite resources. I recommend we let it expire (and I think my good friend, Greg, would agree with me).
