gregl515 - RIP

Postby koimaster » September 9th 2015, 8:45am

I have been trying to contact Gregory for awhile now to check on the watch I sold him he last year and was still waiting for the payment for it before I was hospitalized as well as to why he had not checked in for awhile. I learned this morning that Gregory had passed away in the ER of a hospital local to him. I am not certain how many of the members here interacted with him but he was a good man, a lover of watches and a Watchlord of which he was proud of.

Goddamn it. Greg was one of the good guys. Our ranks are depleting. And yes, 59 is far too young to go.

Goddamn it.

An excellent member and contributor, but more importantly, a good person who enjoyed life despite some pretty tough setbacks. Rest easy, Greg; your pain is at an end...

Another reason wny I fear death cause it could be right around the corner.
I'm not afraid to admit that I'm scared of dying cause I don't know what
awaits me on the other side. If I'm this scared of dying at my age I can't
imagine what you guys go through. Rip Greg.
I've never felt like I truly belonged here and I believe it's time I move on.

All of us are going to die at some point, Kev. The important thing is to live life to the fullest, to live with character, to love our family and friends, and hopefully, leave the world a slightly better place than it would have been without us.

Just live your life and don't focus on death.
Plenty of time for that when the end of the tunnel becomes visible, like it has for many of us.
RIP Greg.

There is an Ancient Egyptian poem carved 3 or 4 thousand years ago. The gist is "Why should I fear to go where everyone I love has gone or will go?"
“He was a dreamer, a thinker, a speculative philosopher... or, as his wife would have it, an idiot.”

Thanks guys I do feel a little better. Maybe all this thinking of death
is a wake up call for me to get my shit together not to take things
so seriously etc. Got live life to the fullest.

Very sorry to hear this, Greg was one of the class acts around here; in fact, Greg was such a nice guy I would have never guessed in a million years that he was a lawyer.

Life is short, get laid a lot and it will take the edge off. On the serious side, we never know when our time will come. It happens, it is over and done with and the world does not stop because we are gone. Just do no harm and you should be ok. At one time there was a quote of mine in the original mast head here which said " If I cannot teach you something in the short time we have on earth, call me not a man but a ghost."

Take it to heart, share your knowledge, enjoy your life and worry about death after the fact. It is not like financial planning Kevin.

I only worry about my watches dying. Especially the automatics since it kills me to think of the servicing costs.
Other than that I'll just wait and see what happens.

And what's all this "can't imagine what you guys go through" crap.

It's something that, as we grow older, we unfortunately see more and more of, those around us falling by the way. I'm still (just barely) in my 40s, but I've been seeing more and more names that I recognize in the obituary section of the campus newspaper where I work, people I used to work side by side with every day. On the forum I run, one of the active participants, a quirky guy, but someone who everybody liked and interacted with, passed away from respiratory failure at 50. We were all stunned.

It shouldn't be surprising, as it's part of the cycle of life, but nevertheless, it almost always catches you unaware.

First off respects to a WIS moving on. I rarely speak of this but when I suffered grave damage I flatlined 3 or 4 times. Of course I was on heavy narcotics but my sense and conviction is that the next world is a very cool place

Dang it!

Hate to hear this news.

Have been dealing with death since I started working in hospitals at age 18. Life is short and there is no promise of tomorrow for any of us.

Let your wishes be known to someone you love and trust, no matter your age, about end of life decisions. Have your legal papers in order and then live every day to the fullest. Hug, laugh, cry, like be, forgive.

RIP, Greg.
