Very interesting watch from Seiko that was released at Baselword and kind of overlooked with all of their releases recently.

The SBDC047.

An automatic, ISO certified diver with an absolutely gorgeous blue dial, diashield (on steel instead of titanium), nice, solid integrated bracelet, AR sapphire crystal, full ceramic 120 click bezel (not a ceramic insert but the bezel is a chunk of ceramic), nice inset markers and different hands chock full of Seiko's legendary lume, Seiko's new clasp, made in Japan, and more.

Would have been nice for Seiko to included an 8 series movement at this price, the integrated bracelet could be an issue if you're not a fan of it (not sure why the drilled lugs on an integrated bracelet), and the diameter is sort of big. However, the recessed case back and shape and angle of the lugs makes it look good on smaller wrists from pics I've seen. The bracelet is very cool, IMO, in how it screws into the case.

The blue is def >>> the previous black dial.

Some pics stolen from various sites...

What do you guys think? I like, but would like better at around $700-800.

Owned the black version. One of the best made watches I have ever had. Bezel is a work of art.

The blue dial version seems more popular on the resellers market and commands at least $100 more than the black dial.

A few months back there were dozens for sale on eBay under $800?

That's really freakin' nice, as the kids say. How was the bracelet, love? As I've noted before Seiko bracelets pull more hair than The Fabulous Moolah.

As usual, I stole the pics from other sites with no credit given and no shame felt.

I owned one for awhile:

And:

It's a great watch, a little big for my tastes now. Also, Seiko's released a Spring Drive GMT version.

Surprisingly well done. And damned near scratch proof with Seiko’s coating. Quite comfortable.

Great looking watch...Why make such a cool ceramic bezel and not pop in a ceramic insert? I didn't see anything to indicate the insert was Diashielded. The Japanese brands seem to do a lot of this kind of goofy stuff ala Orient's high end movement that hacks but can't be hand-wound. Sometimes it's the thoughts that keep me awake at night.

EDIT: Nevermind...
THe most unique feature of the Transocean is probably the solid monobloc ceramic bezel that has it's markings lasered into the bezel
... nice! $1300 pretty pricey- not big on the integrated wristage. I wonder if a rubber strap might be on the horizon given the drilled lugs.

Does it, at least, have a quick change date?

For fuck's sake, foggy, it's not some commie, Eastern side of the wall Soviet monstrosity.

It's an imperialistic, Japanese watch with a high price tag with some pretty nifty features and other basic ones left out. Like most Japanese watches.

But it has an integrated bracelet which is as irritating as ,if not a tad more, a non quickset date.

Godamnit!
